Solving The Impasse
I used to joke that the only way to have harmony between the Right Wing Authoritarians (RWS’s) (AKA conservatives) and Open Minded Leftist (OML’s) (AKA Liberals) was to move all the OML’s to an island and call it Liberal Island. Beyond ridiculous I know, just a thought experiment
So, now that Fat Donny is so intent on building a wall and polarizing the population further –why don’t we build it right down the center of the continent(s) pole to pole and, WTF back again… divide the whole earth; RWA’s on one hemisphere OML’s, the other. There could even be a buffer zone for those who don’t identify one way or the other and those who’d rather sit on the fence until the dust settles. We’d have a “right” hemisphere and a “left”?
Imagine the possibilities; Conservatives could live out their fascist dreams, cut government waste to “0”, cut government to “0”, fuck progressive policies, fuck infrastructure, fuck freedom for anyone making less than a million per year, praise the Lord, he’ll take care of the environment, fuck truth, fuck honesty… let the rapture begin. Without innovation and science and education, in a few decades, they’d be throwing spears at each-other.
Now, imagine liberals being unencumbered by nothing other than smog drifting in from the neighbours… but, without regressive policies we could build scrubbers, sequester republican gas, convert it to fertilizer. Education for all, medicine for all, libraries, empathy competitions, veggie burgers, brutality free agriculture, clean waterways, inclusion… within a century or two everybody would be uniformly beige… “there goes the neighbourhood” would disappear from the national lexicon, no Aryan master race, a Nazi free hemisphere.
By agreement anyone can choose to live on either side… Hmm, I haven’t thought this completely through… and we’d agree not to plunder the others territory… again I haven’t thought any of this completely through… Smarter people than I could iron out the details and as long as nobody cheated there would be harmony…
Hmm, could smarter people figure out how to stop corruption and nastiness drifting in from the RWA hemisphere? Would RWA’s honor the “no invasion” terms? Hmm?
